When they are feeding in your area, hang the wand outside with your other feeders so that the birds get used to its presence. Then when you want to hand feed, take the other feeders down and put them out of site. Next hold the wand where they were feeding earlier. You'll be surprised how easily they will come down to feed at your wand.
All feeding stations have a red cap bee guard to attract the birds and to keep bees out.
